Anticipated Emotion and Motivation for Approach and Avoidance Goals in Dysphoric Individuals.

Virtual

Oral · Cognitive Psychology

Cognitive representations of future experiences are thought critical in anticipating reward. Predictions, anticipated emotions, and motivation for personal goals were investigated in dysphoric and non-dysphoric individuals. Whilst no differences emerged in anticipated emotions, dysphoric participants reported less goal-oriented motivation and believed goal achievement to be more effortful and less controllable.
