Speak up! Mistaken Beliefs about How Much to Talk in Conversations

Virtual

Oral · Social Psychology

How much should people speak in dyadic conversations with new people? People forecasted they should speak less than half the time to be likable, but more than half the time to be interesting. However, in an actual conversation, people were both more interesting and more likable when they spoke more.
