A Scoping Review of Structural and Intermediary Determinants of Health and Health Inequities in the ACEs Literature: Where Does the Story Begin?

We conducted a scoping review to map the literature on adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) onto the World Health Organization’s framework on social/structural determinants of health inequities. We found that the literature on ACEs predominantly treats ACEs as predictors of health, underemphasizing the role of structural determinants of health inequities.
