Defining the p-Factor: An Empirical Test of Five Leading Theories
In a mixed healthy and clinical sample (n=1833), we explored the associations between the general factor of psychopathology (p-factor) and five proposed interpretations. The p-factor was more strongly related to neuroticism, impulsivity, and global functioning (rs: |.86|-|.90|) than either psychoticism (r = .57) or IQ (r = –.30).
