Social Connection & Substance Use: Connecting the Dots between Opioid Use and Social Wellbeing

I propose a novel framework to connect the dots between opioid use and social isolation. Chronic opioid use is particularly corrosive to close relationships. Social isolation plays a role in exacerbating opioid use disorder (OUD). This is a mechanistic explanation of the bidirectional link between social isolation and OUD.
