Mental Illness and Going Back to Nature: A Pilot Study on the Effects of Nature-Assisted Rehabilitation on Patients’ Health and Personality
Psychiatric patients who underwent a 10-week nature-assisted rehabilitation intervention showed significant reductions in their tendency to feel worry and pessimistic (i.e., harm avoidance) and their sense of feeling defeated. Conversely, patients who in the meantime underwent one-on-one talk therapy interventions demonstrated reductions in impulsivity and disorderliness (i.e., novelty seeking).
