Obstetrics at Odds with Evolution: Adaptation and Maladaptation in Modern Childbirth

I claim that a useful adaptation in human evolutionary time that delayed childbirth until a posing threat passed has become a maladaptation in the typical contemporary birth environment. Therefore, I offer a critical understanding: obstetrics has neglected to exploit evolutionary advantages.
