Using Message Matching to Promote Individual Preventative Actions to Slow Transmission of COVID-19

Virtual

Oral · Social Psychology

A two-part survey was conducted to measure the success of message matching interventions to promote social distancing and face mask usage based on an individual's self-construal level (independence vs. interdependence). Our findings suggest that self-focused messages often worsen attitudes toward mask wearing and social distancing compared to other-focused messages.
