Cheerfulness and Well-Being: Findings across Three Studies on Resilience, Creativity, and Seriousness.
While research has demonstrated cheerfulness is associated with well-being, few studies have examined the mechanisms in which cheerfulness may promote well-being. Self-report and observer-report findings across three studies revealed cheerfulness promotes self-esteem, everyday creativity, and resilience, predicting greater well-being. Implications of these research findings will guide positive psychology interventions.
