New Directions in Persuasion Research
Persuasion research is undergoing a revival. This symposium showcases some current topics in this area. The research presented demonstrates the value of face-to-face persuasion, targeting individuals who aren’t likely to “switch sides” on an issue, appealing to targets’ “darker selves," and offering decoy outlets for targets’ experience of psychological reactance.
