The Effects of a Southern Accent on Credibility Judgments

Accent is one of the linguistic features that is frequently investigated for the social judgments that it triggers. The current study indicates that people from the Northern U.S. rate statements made by a person with a Southern accent as less credible than statements made with a Northern accent.
