Online or Off? Adolescent Girls with Social Media Accounts Report More Internalizing Symptoms and Less Secure Attachment

Abstract
Adolescents use social media almost constantly, and this could impact their mental health. This study examined differences in social media account ownership, internalizing symptoms, and attachment style. Results showed significant differences between girls with and without social media accounts on measures of depression, anxiety, and attachment security.
