Abstract

Though the Big Five traits are commonly related to depression in emerging adulthood, trait levels of alexithymia (a lack of insight on one’s emotions) may explain variability beyond them. Using hierarchical regression, these findings suggest that alexithymia provides incremental validity in predicting depressed mood beyond the Big Five.
