Measuring Psychotherapist’s Mentalization: Development and Preliminary Validation of a Self-Report Measure

Mentalization allows to understand mental states in self and others. It overlaps with empathy and emotion regulation. Therapist’s mentalization contributes to therapeutic alliance and efficiency. The aim of this study was to develop and validate a self-report measure of psychotherapist’s mentalization. Analyses showed acceptable internal consistency and conceptual validity.
