Abstract

The semantic inconsistency scale (SIS) was developed for detecting random responding (RR) in Likert-scale questionnaires. In three studies it was demonstrated to be useful for detecting RR. Methods of assessing the validity of semantic inconsistency methods are described, with recommendations for effective versus ineffective approaches.
