Abstract
This study examined the relationship of parasympathetic nervous system activity during adaptive emotion regulation. Baseline respiratory sinus arrhythmia predicted lower sadness after the ER task. Insufficient withdrawal or augmentation predicted less recovery in happiness in response to the ER task and lower overall levels of happiness.
