Abstract

Polar antonyms (similar in meaning) and adverb modified polarities (very similar in meaning, strongly unrelated in meaning) were analyzed. Adverbs expanded strengths of unmarked more than marked poles, but others contracted strengths of marked more than unmarked poles. Adverb varied asymmetric in expansion and contraction of unmarked and marked poles.
