Beyond the Race Checkbox: Racial Identity Dimensions Moderate Association between Institutional Race-Related Stress and Anxious Arousal Symptoms

To understand the detrimental effects of racism, this study reframes conventional discussion of race as a demographic variable, instead focusing on racial identity dimensions—private and public racial regard and sense of belonging to the racial group—as complex variables that interact with institutional racism to predict anxious arousal symptoms.
