How We Conceive of Human Nature Predicts Hope, Optimism, and Well-Being

Abstract
Participants with positive conceptions of human nature (e.g., people have the freedom to overcome adversity; people have the capacity for positive change; people are naturally benevolent) scored consistently higher on standard measures of hope, optimism, and well-being compared to those with more negative conceptions of human nature.
