Abstract

Prior research suggests women use more lexical hedges, words that can indicate a desire to be precise or careful in communication, than men (Namaziandost, & Shafiee, 2018). The study investigates the use of hedge words in psychology dissertation abstracts. Results suggests that female authors use more hedge words than males.
