Visual Suppression and Subsequent Obsession
- Paige Mesui
Brigham Young University-Hawaii
Abstract
Participants were fitted with eye-tracking equipment and instructed to not look at blemishes when shown an image of a face. Afterwards, participants viewed the same image, but were instructed to look freely. Those who initially suppressed, later viewed the blemishes more frequently and for a longer duration compared to controls.
