Longitudinal Examination of Forms of Friendships and Antipathies to Subsequent Peer Liking, Popularity, and Sociability

Forms of friendships and of antipathies (mutual, unilateral given, unilateral received) were related to liking, popularity, and sociability behaviors a year later (Grades 3 to 4, and 4 to 5). Relationships served as gateways to the group, the largest effects being for mutual friendships, mutual antipathies, and unilateral received antipathies.
