Testing a Manipulation of Internal Political Efficacy and Its Effect on Attitudes Toward Politics in a Low Voter Turnout Population

Abstract
Two experiments indicated that manipulations of political test difficulty can influence internal political efficacy, and in turn, lead to less positive attitudes toward politics. Asking participants to look up answers to difficult political test items led to higher internal political efficacy, which was linked to more positive attitudes toward politics.
