Social Support As a Buffer between Stress and Psychological Health in Homeless Adolescents

Social support buffers the effects of stress on psychological health. In a sample of homeless and housed adolescents, youths with high social support showed significantly decreased ratings of psychological problems over time even with high levels of initial stress. This was not true of individuals with low social support.
