The Differentiating Roles of Mother-and-Father-Adolescent Relationships on Psychopathology: A Longitudinal Study on Early Adolescents

This study found that mother-adolescent and father-adolescent connectedness was differentially related to adolescent psychopathology symptoms. We found that mother-adolescent connectedness was more strongly associated with depressive symptoms at baseline than father-adolescent connectedness. Moreover, we found that only father-adolescent connectedness was associated with symptoms of ADHD, ODD, and anxiety.
