Abstract

This study examined the role of cultural values, specifically the effects of familism, on diabetes distress and treatment adherence among Latino and Anglo Americans with type 2 diabetes. As hypothesized, structural equation modeling revealed that familism predicted lower levels of diabetes distress, which in turn predicted greater dietary adherence.
