Competition within the Peer Group Can Either Hurt or Help Well-Being: A Case of Competitive Fit

Abstract
We investigate the effects of ongoing competition over material and social resources within naturally-occurring adult peer groups. We propose a new paradigm based on the notion of competitive fit within one’s peer group and show how it can affect peer dynamics and personal well-being.
