Delinquent peer exposure (DPE) and parental monitoring consistently predict delinquency, but research about how they work together is mixed. A longitudinal sibling comparison design was used to test DPE as a mediator of the association between monitoring and delinquency. Mediation was found in population models, but not when comparing siblings.
