Abstract
Infant exposure to harsh environments increase baseline cortisol. The HPA axis may calibrate the developing immune system with some finding a suppression of immune functioning. We predicted that higher levels of infant cortisol at 10 months would demonstrate immunosuppression in infants. We did not find support for our prediction.
