The Seductive Detail Effect in Popular Youtube Instructional Videos

Abstract
Participants viewed either an original YouTube video with 36 seductive details or a version with the details edited out. Participants who viewed the seductive detail version were less likely to report ideas related to the learning objectives and more likely to report ideas that weren’t included in the video.
