Choice Overload Among Children

Abstract

We examine how children choose from various set sizes. Depending on their cognitive abilities, preschoolers exhibited choice overload in larger sets, whereas fourth-graders were more satisfied as set size increased. These results challenge the idea that regret underlies choice overload phenomena because regret is unexpected to occur at preschool age
