Abstract
Objective relationship functioning (emotional intimacy, sexuality, support, respect/control, communication/conflict) and intimate partner violence (psychological, physical, sexual) were assessed in 100 Mexican American couples annually over the first 3 years of marriage. Better relationship functioning was associated with lower rates of intimate partner violence perpetration among husbands and wives.
