Escalation of Commitment from a Fair Allocation Perspective

We propose that escalation of commitment could be driven by a motive to allocate resources fairly. Specifically, we found that people who endorse more strongly in need-based allocation would exhibit stronger escalation of commitment. On the contrary, stronger belief in equity-based allocation would reduce escalation.
