Exploring Mediators in the Relationship between Sense of Self and Body Dissatisfaction: The Role of Self-Objectification and Social Comparison

This study explores two mediational pathways through which sense of self reduces body dissatisfaction in women. We found evidence that self-objectification and appearance-based social comparison processes mediate the relationship between sense of self and body dissatisfaction. Results are discussed in terms of implications for prevention and intervention strategies.
