Interactions between Category Formation and Labels

Abstract
Language acquisition is intrinsically linked to category formation. Contrastive language in particular can help children learn new categories. Two studies (N=64) examined the role of explicit and implicit contrast in 3-year-old children’s novel word learning. Findings show what aspects of explicit negation is helpful for category formation.
