Abstract

Novel English-language words functioned as unconscious primes at 33 and 50 ms 24 hours after they were learned; after 48 hours, priming occurred only for the 50 ms primes. These results suggest that recruitment into unconscious lexical systems occurs rapidly and that its persistence is dependent on duration.
