Abstract
Self-Determination Theory research demonstrates that perceptions of competence facilitate intrinsic motivation. Neuroscientific evidence for processes underlying this effect does not exist. Win-Loss feedback manipulation in a competitive task showed expected effects on self-reported task interest. However, differences in feedback-related negativity (d-FRN) suggested enhanced feedback sensitivity in the low-competence condition.
