Abstract
Using a Self-Determination Theory framework, this study examined correlates of basic psychological need satisfaction and thwarting and physical activity among 612 undergraduates. The degree to which psychological needs for autonomy, relatedness, and competence were satisfied and thwarted was related to physical activity, but patterns differed with weight status and gender.
