College Students’ Possible Selves Reflect Concerns about Mental Illness

Past work suggests that emerging adults’ projected feared and hoped for selves are tied to their coping skills and socioemotional development. Current participants descriptions of hoped for and feared selves resulted in predictable categories. However, a new category was identified: mental health and addiction.
