Never Gonna Give You up...or Should I? Understanding Reasons for Disengaging from Romantic Pursuit

We sought to understand reasons for pursuing and disengaging from the pursuit of a romantic relationship. Three coders classified undergraduate students’ (N = 171) open-ended responses regarding their reasons for disengaging (M = 6.3) and pursuing (M= 5.4). We discuss these results in light of motivational models of relationship pursuit.
