Abstract
Distracted driving is a leading cause of fatal and injury collisions. We tested 101 participants (age 20-79) on a driving simulator with distractions from hands-free phone calls and short text messages. All participants exhibited decreased driving performance during and following distraction, and older drivers took longer to recover from distraction.
