Abstract
As part of a longitudinal study, sibling and friend dyads’ use of assertive and affiliative language was examined during two play tasks when the target child in each dyad was 7 years old. Girls’ and boys’ use of assertive and affiliative language varied differentially, depending on task and partner dyad.
