Abstract
Does imitation distort our memory? Using a tower building task we found a relationship between hindsight biases, source memory and imitation fidelity. Hindsight bias was positively associated with imitation fidelity, the reverse was true for source memory. Specific memory errors during imitation learning may be adaptive, rather than maladaptive.
