The Separation of Church and State: Biblical Literalism and Political Conservatism Explain Perceptions Toward Sexual Activity

A survey of undergraduate students in the Bible Belt investigated the role of Biblical interpretation and political ideology on predicting attitudes toward sexual permissiveness, safe sex, and sexual consciousness. Data support the role of literal translations and political conservatism correlating with more negative attitudes toward permissive behavior.
