Stigma Toward Alcohol Use Disorder: How Biogenetic Explanations and Drinking Contexts Impact Attributions and Attitudes

We investigated how information about genetic vulnerability for addiction and drinking contexts impact alcohol use disorder (AUD) stigma. Participants were recruited from MTurk and read vignettes about a man with AUD. Targets were seen as more in control of social drinking, but not when a genetic vulnerability was also present.
