Abstract

Puberty has been linked to developing body image and self-esteem problems, However, the nature of these relations is disputed. This meta-analysis suggests that the effects of early pubertal timing on body image differs by gender and that advanced pubertal status in girls is associated with worse body image and self-esteem.
