Abstract
Longitudinal interviews with 41 self-identified multiracial children (W1 Mage = 9.70 years) were analyzed to assess the messages multiracial youth receive about their racial identifications. Qualitative coding showed that older children reported receiving more identity-invalidation messages from others. Quantitative analyses assess the association between identity messages and racial identity centrality.
