Dependent and Avoidant Personality Traits and Their Behavioral Correlates As Observed during a Marital Interaction

In couples, dependent traits in husbands and wives were associated with reduced marital satisfaction for both partners. Interestingly, avoidant traits in husbands but not wives were associated with reduced marital satisfaction and a host of negative interaction patterns. Findings are explored in the context of gender roles and cultural norms.
