Abstract
This study investigated how social importance influences the underlying cognitive processes of prospective memory (i.e., memory for future intentions) among young and older participants. Our results showed that, compared to the standard condition, the social importance improves prospective remembering by the involvement of preparatory attentional processes, thereby eliminating age-related differences.
