“Being Social Is so Underrated”: Social Support Predicts College Persistence but Perhaps Not Likelihood

Abstract
Despite strong motivations when starting college, a significant portion of first-year undergraduates drop out of college. This survey found that among 198 first-year undergraduate students, social support significantly predicted students’ desire to return to college, but not to the likelihood of students returning to college.
